Meet Dr. Irina Yakubin, OD

Dr. Irina Yakubin, OD is a California-licensed optometrist providing comprehensive and medical-focused eye care in Santa Monica. She has a strong clinical interest in dry eye disease, ocular disease, contact lenses, and preventive eye health.

After earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry in 2020, Dr. Yakubin gained experience across a wide range of clinical settings, strengthening her expertise in medical optometry and patient education. This hands-on background shaped her practical, prevention-focused approach to care.

Known to her patients as Dr. Irina, she emphasizes clear communication and education—helping patients understand their eye health, exam findings, and treatment options so they can make informed, long-term decisions.

Dr. Yakubin is also the author of The Eye Doctor’s Eye Guide: An Optometrist’s Handbook for Healthy Eyes and Vision, a patient-friendly book designed to make evidence-based eye care accessible to the public. She is the founder of About My Eyes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving public understanding of eye health through education and community outreach.

OptiHealth Optometry is located inside Montana Eyes on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. As an independent practice, we focus on patient-centered care, continuity, and clinical decision-making based on individual needs — not volume.

Eye exams are available in English, Russian, and Spanish.
